Beggar gang invades Sheung Shui. Like their counterpart in India, as illustrated in the movie Slumdog Millionaire, they were “recruited” and are controlled by mastermind behind the scene. All of them come from the People Republic of China as tourists. PR Chinese beggars are usually seen in districts with tourists and expats, like Tsim Sha Tsui (such as the tunnel connecting Canton Road to MTR station), the Central (such as the bridge to the Central Pier), and Mongkok (such as the pedestrian-only streets), but seldom seen in residential areas like Sheung Shui. Few local people become beggars, because permanent residents can choose to be cardboard scavengers or to live on welfare.
For people visiting Hong Kong: do NOT give them money as this will encourage their masterminds to “recruit” more innocents.

Can I just say what a comfort to find an individual who truly knows what
they’re talking about over the internet. You
certainly understand how to bring an issue
to light and make it important. More and more people need to check this out and understand this side
of the story. I was surprised that you aren’t more popular since you definitely have the gift.
