This is the follow-up of NORTHEAST VILLAGERS CALL FOR HELP TO DEFEND THEIR HOMELAND.
Hong Kong is not just skyscrapers. Its countryside is as vivid as its urban counterpart. Here I share a few photos about countryside in North East New Territories, Hong Kong from the Internet.
Fanling North (Google Map)
Ma Sze Po / Ma Sze Po Village / Mapopo Community Farm
If not the Northeast Development Plan, I don’t know there is an organic farm just to the north of Luen Wo Market, Fanling. Mapopo Community Farm opens 2-6 pm every Wednesday and Sunday.
Ng Tung River
Ng Tung River is a nice place for cycling and fishing.

Solar street lamps along the river!
Sunset at Ng Tong River
Idle farmland acquired by tycoons, waiting for development.
New World Development has constructed a group of 17 “haunted houses” in Fanling North for a long time. They have the skeleton. That’s all. Not for living people, they are just for occupying the land.
Kwu Tung (Google Map)
RTHK programmes about Kwu Tung (in Cantonese).
Industries in Kwu Tung
A chemical plant that produces Black Whirlwind insecticide, a well-known local brand. VJ Media has a coverage on it. Again, not because of the development plan, I don’t even know there are chemical plants and lumber mills in Hong Kong! I don’t even know Black Whirlwind insecticide is made in Hong Kong.
Chi Kee Sawmill & Timber Limited
One of the sauce manufacturer in Kwu Tung. There are at least five sauce factories according to Ming Pao. One of them has 80 years of history.
Sheung Yue River (River Beas). This river is not only important to Hau Clan. It is also important to Liu Clan because the river appears in the school song of Fung Kai, a school established by Liu Clan over 80 years.
The ancestral hall of Hau Clan. If I remember correct, the current chief said in the public that he is willing to sell the ancestral hall if the price is right!
