Frontier Shopping Mall proposed in Fu Tei Au Objected by Government Departments

The Town Planning Board will start reviewing the proposal to build a temporarily frontier shopping mall in Fu Tei Au (near Lo Wu Station) tomorrow. However, several government departments have objected the proposal. The Security Bureau questioned that the applicant does not clearly demonstrate how customers can visit the shopping mall as Lo Wu Station is a restricted area. Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department pointed out that the proposed area is a farmland, there are farming activities nearby, and 450 metres to the west is Ho Sheung Heung Egretry. Environmental Protection Agency concerned that the project may violate the policy where sewage cannot be discharged into Deep Bay, and may affect the water quality of Ng Tung River (also known as River Indus). The Drainage Services Department worried that there is a risk of flooding after the shopping mall has been constructed.
